The calendar for the third instalment of Monster Energy Super X - the Australasian Supercross Championship - has been announced, with the highlight a first ever round under lights in Melbourne.
Until now, the major provincial city of Geelong has been the custodian of the Victorian leg of Super X, but that will change on October 23 when the second round is held in the state's capitalk.
The calendar is again a condensed affair, with seven rounds to be held over eight weeks, starting on October 16 in Newcastle (NSW) - Chad Reed's home town - and concluding in Brisbane on December 4.
Between the book ends, Melbourne will be followed by events in Canberra (ACT), a New Zealand double-header in Auckland and Dunedin, with Sydney the penultimate round.
The full calendar is as follows:
October 16 Newcastle
October 23 Melbourne
October 30 Canberra
November 13 Auckland
November 20 Dunedin
November 27 Sydney
December 4 Brisbane
"Supercross will be taken to a whole new level yet again in 2010 and I am so pleased that we are kicking off the 2010 series with our first ever round in Newcastle," said Mal Peter, General Manager of Super X. "With Chad (Reed) racing in front of his home crowd combined with the strength of the bike market and amount of fans there, it will be the perfect way to start the huge series we have planned.
"We have also expanded the series in New Zealand demonstrating its growth and development into a truly Australasian championship."
American star Mike Alessi has already confirmed his participation in this year's Super X, and more marquee signings are expected in coming weeks.
Tickets go on sale May 24.
