To all the scammers that seem to think I'm an easy target. Get ...stuffed. You want an additional report or whatever, then you pay for it. Surely there's a way to screen these idiots Bikesales?
Ad version 2.
OK, I tried the humorous approach and got no where, so now I'll go the straight forward approach.
For sale my pride and joy. S1000XR Gen 2 Tour. Always been looked after. Never been dropped. I have the engine crash bars fitted as it was a sensible investment to protect my bike. Never needed them. The spot lights mounted on them are standard with the Tour model, but the crash bars didn't have proper mounting brackets for them and BMW didn't supply them. So, I improvised and the light set up works.
Bike was serviced by O'Donnell Motorcycles in Wonthaggi on 1/4/26.
A pre-roadworthy check was done and there was nothing to report. A road worthy will be provided. We have a local VicRoads and I'll provide reg depending on what price I sell it at.
A new front tyre has been fitted.
Michelin Pilot Road 6 front and rear.
Rear tyre is near new. Check the photos.
Previous services were done by BMW Traralgon and Mentone when Traralgon didn't have a bike technician.
Panniers aren't used by me very often and have spent the majority of the time in my shed on a shelf.
They are panniers. They do want panniers do, which is provide storage space.
They lock in with the key and they're colour matched. I bought them new with the bike as I thought my wife and I would do more touring than we have. She isn't overly comfortable on longer rides on the pillion seat. If I do over night rides with my club, I just use my backpack.
I have a BMW provided tank bag which rubbed on the paintwork, so I stopped using it. There's a photo showing the rub point.
The seat has a very slight tear where my wife's boot caught it. Refer photo with 5 cent coin for reference. It has been like that for at least 18 months. I just cover it electrical tape to keep any moisture out. Was always going to get it repaired but never got there.
There are some scuff marks. Photos of them provided in the ad. It's a bike which is ridden and appreciated. It happens. It's not abused or misused.
I've had my Achillies replaced in one leg and the other leg I have a bung knee, so getting on and off the bike is getting more difficult. Especially if I'm tired after a longer ride. Even though I'm tall, it's still becoming a problem.
I've now bought a BMW RT. Better for 2up. Wife's happy and comfortable and I can get on and off easier. Also more likely to keep my license.
Make no mistake, the XR is an awesome road bike. Same engine as the S1000R, just the seating position is more comfortable. I can certainly mix it up with the other sport bikes, but I get off and walk without a sore back at the end of the day. One big advantage is it has a bigger fuel tank. So while the others are filling up at every opportunity with some hard riding, I'm not stressed. I think the best range I ever got was just on 400 km's with easy highway riding. I live in Gippsland with lots of twisty roads. If you ride it harder, well, obviously it gets worse economy.
It uses 95 RON fuel. I found no difference with 98. Don't ever run 91.
I assume the ad will call up the specs for this model, so yeah, it has the tyre pressure monitoring and the dynamic ride modes and automatic suspension and anti-wheelie control. Everything is adjustable through the screen. The anti-wheelie is important. It will lift the front wheel under power at speeds that will get you arrested with the copper laughing as he cuts your license into little pieces.
I had the bike at $20k initially. I need to sell it, but I won't be insulted with low ball offers.
If you're serious and want a comfortable road rocket, this is it.
It does everything well, except the longer distance 2up. Or maybe as my wife and I are older, our butts need more comfort.
As an all rounder, this bike is the best choice.
I'll answer any questions as quickly as I can.
