The new lightweight engine is a 998cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line 4-cylinder, 4-valve engine with a crossplane crankshaft. With its 79 x 50.9mm bore x stroke & high compression ratio of 13.0:1, it has a maximum power output of 200 PS (without air pressurisation), or roughly 18 PS more than the previous generation YZF-R1.
