This Bonnevile left the factory as a T100 with all the chrome bling. After too long in dusty storage causing rust pitting to most of the original chrome, tI bought it with only 5500ks on the clock, and got a full strip-down and rebuild to a very nice custom with a 1969 T120 Bonny vibe. The engine remained intact, and compression tests and bore-scope confirm it's in great shape.Everything else was stripped down, and many small fixings replaced with quality stainless socket-head bolts. New wheel bearings, headstock bearings, swingarm bearings. Rebuilt brake calipers and master cylinders, new brake discs, new X-Ring Chain and sprockets. Full carburetor strip, ultrasonic clean and rebuild. The airbox has been de-baffled, fitted with a K&N Filter and venturi intake. The Staintune mufflers sound great. The tidy Motone Cafe seat looks slim, but actually has the same density as the factory seat. Check out the last photo of the bike in Scrambler mode. Easily converted with the included rear shock spacers; you'd need a TEC 2:1 exhaust which are inexpensive.
The original guards were removed, replaced with Thruxton front and cut-down Thruxton rear with LUCAS Style rear light.we went for a matt finish, so all the tinware paint is British Racing green base with vintage white panels, with 3 coats of 2K Matt clear. Wheels were stripped, bead blasted, primed and painted in 2-pak Matt black. The hubs are "cast iron" base colour with 2K industrial satin clear. The stainless double-butted spokes have been satin finished/brushed.
Handle bars were replaced with Norman Hyde Westerns, as per the 60s and 70's Bonnevilles, wide and comfortable, and finished with late model Thruxton bar-end mirrors with brass caps, and new throttle and clutch cables. The twin-dial dash was swapped out for the speedo-only version from a Bonny SE, but the tacho and twin dash comes with the sale.
Brand new rear shocks with adjustable damping, and new 2" over (Triumph Scrambler) fork stanchions with progressive springs and YSS damping valves and dressed with new fork gaitors up the front give it a great stance. The legs are painted in 2k Matt black.
The Chrome engine covers were bead blasted and painted in oven-baked wrinkle finish. Front sprocket cover replaced with caged sprocket guard. The crankcase breather is removed from the airbox (reduces carbon deposits on the valves and pistons) and vents through a washable filter that lives beside the nice hand-turn oil filler cap. The secondary air injection has been removed. The hand-made stainless rear rails provide strap points for seat bags, and keep the (included) genuine Triumph soft panniers from rubbing on anything. Miniature (e-stamped) indicators are fitted to custom-made brackets front and rear, and the flasher unit has been changed to an electronic version.
The bike is very well tuned. It's runs on 91 unleaded, and starts and runs very well, every time. I've spent hours making sure it's the best it can be, the engine is sharp and responsive. The Staintune mufflers work perfectly with the air intake to let it breathe. As far as an 865 Bonny goes, it's quick.
The original guards, tail lights and indicators, seat and sprocket cover come with the bike at sale, plus probably some other bits sitting around, and a manual. Its got a RWC and the super-low mileage is genuine. There's a spare key, The single seat rego is paid to July. I've been trying to convince myself to sell it for a year but the time has come and I'm on the hunt for my next project. If you're interested get in touch. I can answer any questions you may have. All the work was done by me, in my workshop. The bike is best viewed on weekends in Samford, or with some notice, in Richlands during business hours. Price now reduced to meet the market.
