Known affectionately as the "seven-four-nine," the Ducati 749 was introduced in 2003 and enjoyed a brief production span, ceasing three years later under its Italian manufacturer, Ducati. Despite its short tenure, the Ducati 749 garnered acclaim for its robust power, striking design, and impressive performance.
In 2004, Ducati expanded the 749 lineup, offering three distinct models: the base 749, 749S, and 749R, available in vibrant red or yellow finishes. Each 2004 Ducati 749 model features a six-speed manual transmission that enhances the riding experience, complemented by an inverted fork and rear twin-sided swingarm suspension for smooth handling. The bike's aluminum frame ensures a lightweight yet durable construction.
The digital dashboard of the 2004 Ducati 749 is equipped with comprehensive instrumentation, including a clock, tachometer, trip odometer, lap timer, speedometer, service reminder indicator, and temperature and fuel level warning lights. Standard features across the models include an engine immobilizer for security, windshield mounts, halogen lights, and rearview mirrors for enhanced visibility.
The 749S model offers the choice between a single or dual vinyl seat, while the base model comes with a dual-seat configuration. Notably, the Ducati 749 shares many components with its sibling, the 999, such as suspension, brakes, and throttle body for fuel injection. Unique to the 749S and 749R models is an adjustable rake, a rarity among motorcycles.
This particular Ducati 749 is an Australian Delivered version, it has had two owners and has been housed in a private collection for an extended period. It remains entirely original, with no aftermarket parts. Please refer to the accompanying photos for its current condition, noting some marks on the fairings from previous incidents, including a minor mishap in the garage by the previous owner. The bike comes with three keys.
