2004 Ducati 749R
Released in 2004, the 749R was built specifically for the burgeoning World Supersport Championship, and unlike WSB that was pretty-much cheque-book racing at the time, WSS regulations were very strict, not even allowing a change of wheels, but that meant the 749R was effectively a full-factory race bike, with an even high specification in road-trim than 999R of the same year!.
This beautiful example was imported from the UK in 2010, spent the first 3 years on permanent display and not being registered until 2013. Owned by 3 mature owners who have spent more time admiring it than riding, the bike has amassed a mere 17,574 km and has never seen track use. The bike is fitted with the OEM Termignoni slip-on (Homologation part supplied from new), but included is the ADR compliant Termi as well. As the pics detail, this bike is immaculate and is owned by a true enthusiasts.
The bike has undergone full service, all fluids, new belts, new Pirelli Diablo Rosso III, plus new insulation pads for both side farings. There’s a very small crack at one of the mounting holes in the windscreen that’s been there for many years and never increased due to the previous owner creating a relief hole. However, there’s also a new un-opened screen included with the sale. The only non-original aspect is the white Corse style number plate painting of the upper fairing, but there’s also a spare carbon upper if returning to OEM red was preferred.
All water hoses and clamps have been replaced with Samco silicone hoses/Samco stainless clamps, and the bike has been fitted with an STM slipper clutch, which is far superior to the standard problematic slipper. The previous owner had the bike serviced by the local Ducati dealer at 17,146km, including checking valve shims and replacing cam belts and air filters, and the present owner has repeated that service in readiness for selling despite only adding circa 350km under his ownership.
Sale includes all oem keys (2 black and a red), two operator manuals (one new), the genuine tool kit, original sales brochures (unique only to UK delivered models) and a couple of period magazines with tests/reviews. An absolutely superb ride with no issues whatsoever.
Included are a selection of minor spares, new and used indicators, screen blister lights, original heel guards etc. A fabulous example of the best 749R produced – it’s an absolute cracker! Located in Victoria, this is a perfect addition to any Ducatisti or collection.
