1999 Yamaha YZF1000R Thunderace – One Owner – 16,900 km – Original Blue/Silver A rare opportunity to purchase a 1999 Yamaha YZF1000R Thunderace in exceptional original condition with only 16,900 km from new. This bike has had one owner since new and has been carefully maintained throughout its life. It is fully licensed, mechanically perfect, and presents as a genuine survivor from the late-1990s superbike era. The bike still wears its original factory blue and silver fairings, which have never been repainted or replaced. With such low kilometres and a single owner history, it remains a very honest and largely original example — something that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. I worked FIFO for many years, so the bike spent long periods stored and was never used as a daily commuter, hence the extremely low kilometres. The Thunderace is powered by Yamaha’s 998cc inline-four engine, renowned for its strong mid-range torque, smooth power delivery and reliability. The model effectively bridged the gap between the YZF750 and the first-generation R1, making it one of Yamaha’s last great analogue superbikes before modern electronics. This bike is fitted with a Remus exhaust which gives it a fantastic note, and the original factory muffler is also included. With its one-owner provenance, original paint and only 16,900 km, this may be one of the lowest-kilometre Thunderaces currently available in Australia. A great opportunity for someone looking for a clean, original example of Yamaha’s pre-R1 superbike era.
