**1993 MK1 Ducati Superlight #919 - A Remarkable Restoration Journey**
Introducing a stunning 1993 Ducati Superlight #919, meticulously restored by its dedicated owner. Acquired in early 2021, this low-kilometer gem was already a tidy example, but the owner envisioned perfection. To achieve this, they entrusted the bike to DNA Custom Cycles for a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration that spanned seven months.
Every component of the bike was either replaced or refurbished. If a part wasn’t readily available, the owner searched the globe to find it, ensuring no detail was overlooked. Originally leaving the factory in yellow, the owner opted to keep the bike in its current red, honoring its color when purchased.
The restoration process involved a complete disassembly of the bike, including the forks and engine. Every bearing and seal in the engine was replaced, while the cases underwent vapor blasting and ceramic coating before being meticulously reassembled. The owner chose to retain the standard bore but had light porting done to the heads for improved airflow, along with installing "Pistal Street" high-compression pistons (10.8:1) and a Sachse Ignition for enhanced performance.
The original wheels were disassembled, checked for integrity, and repainted in factory magnesium alloy primer and topcoat by Lawrence at Collide-a-scope. The usual worn aluminum disc carriers were replaced with more durable alloy units, ensuring lasting braking efficiency.
All fasteners were removed and recoated in yellow zinc chromate, replicating the factory finish. The exhaust features a Silmotor spaghetti header and FBF carbon end cans, proudly displaying a Termi sticker.
The bodywork was repainted to perfection and complemented with a NOS sticker kit, while the frame received a bright white powder coat.
Completed just ten days before the birth of the owner’s daughter in November 2021, the bike has seen only a handful of rides since its restoration. It has gone for its yearly pink slip and made a couple of outings to Latins in the laneway—truly minimal use for such a pristine machine.
Presenting better than new, this Ducati Superlight deserves a place in a collection or museum. For serious inquiries, a detailed build spreadsheet outlining every aspect of the restoration is available. Original rearsets, header, and exhaust will also be included with the sale.
