I purchased two RG 500s along with a friend around 8 years ago so I could restore them together. The guy we purchased them and his friend had owned them since new but the friend then passed and he took his bike on. Milage shown on this bike was confirmed to be correct by him.
But very soon after I purchased a business and it then took me about 6 years to restore them both (with quite a lot of outside assistance)
The bike has been completely stripped down, literally to the last nut & bolt, and every single part down to each nut and bolts has either refurbished, rebuilt or replaced.
The engine was stripped back as far back as the crankcases with crank and transmission left as they were. So cylinders were removed, checked and all externals were painted, gasket replaced etc.
It’s difficult to list everything that’s been refurbished or but in essence it’s almost everything unless I thought the original finish was good enough to keep (I.e. wheels and clocks)
Comes with dual OEM seats and also the single seat cover as shown.
Refurbished:
Forks, including re-hard-chromed (done by RAD chroming service QLD) of original stanchions, all new seals etc.
Exhausts, including new alloy sleeves for end cans.
All brake systems including all callipers and master cylinders
Fork anti-dives
Carbs with all new jets etc, then balanced while on the running bike.
Seats re-covered
New:
Rotary valve components
Brake discs, front and rear
Chain & sprockets
Tyres (Battleaxe)
Battery
I was very happy the original Suzuki wheel anodising was still perfect so these are in their genuine state which I know is hard to find and they look stunning.
Cons:
I had to replace the nose cone and belly pans with non OEM parts but they are good solid copies. All other panels are original and in great condition.
The main key fits all locks except the fuel cap as the painter lost the original cap. This of course can be rectified as the lock can be modified to suit the key.
I’m only selling as to be totally honest it’s too good to ride and although it’s beautiful to look at in the garage it’s just wasted sitting there wrapped up in a air-tight vacuum bag.
