Well, here for the 1st time in about 40 years is my beloved McIntosh/Suzuki up for sale.
It is with great regret, but! Unfortunately I’m getting too old to ride it, and I’ve only ridden it once this year, so here she is.
This is a 1984 McIntosh/Suzuki.It is an original frame and body work and its Aluminium tank and has been issued with a Police VIN/Chassis No.
This bike has got an engineering certificate, and I have also made some more changes over the years such as the wheels and front suspension as additional improvements.
It has an original 1135cc engine from a GSX1150 EF sports tourer, which has been upgraded to a 1229cc Wiseco Kit in 1997. The engine has been built by one of the best in the business by Mr Colin Linney of 10/10ths racing. He has fitted bigger valves, ported heads and higher profile Camshafts for more performance.
It is fitted with 41mm Keihin Flat Slide FCR carburettors. In 2002 I also have modified the R1 front end and it was fully rebuilt by SOS Suspension , re-hard chromed stanchions , custom rebound and compression Racetech internals and custom carriers mated to the best 4 spot Axial Brembo Calipers recently replaced about 8 months ago.
The bike runs a Custom Megacycle 4 into 1 exhaust system which is also ceramic coated.
The rear suspension has a custom made YSS shocks with ride height, adjustable preload, adjustable rebound and also low & high speed adjustable compression too. Finally it rides on 17” Marchesini Forged Alloy wheels with newish Midas Force + EV’s Tyres.
The rims and tyres are 17”x3.5” 120/70 ZR17 front and 17”x5.5” 180/55 ZR17 rear.
Countless uses of titanium nuts and bolts everywhere.
The speedo was replaced with a Koso unit about 8 years ago. It shows around 5100kms.
The motor has done a total of about 28000kms as the old speedo stopped working.
The Bike is currently on Historic Rego which will have to be surrendered on sale. The bike can be registered fully, historic or Conditional.
Ken McIntosh has seen my bike at the Barry Sheen Festival in 2014 he said the bikes build is amazing and it’s the only 1135cc engine he has seen in a BR1 as they usually use a GSX1100 or Katana engine, fitting one of these is a tighter fit and is more difficult , but it fits well.
Here are some photos with Ken and my bike at the end.
This bike is for someone that wants something very different. There were only 50 of these made worldwide and no 2 are the same as they are built to the taste and budget of the owner.
I’ve sparred no expense on this bike and who ever purchases this classic will appreciate it. It’s a true racer with beautiful classic lines. It always lacked the suspension and tyres of which I have given to complete its true potential.
It runs a bit rich and the suspension is on the firm side and has more potential for more power but! I’ve left it, as it’s fast enough! I think anyway.
By the way it’s a race pattern gear shift, which is 1 up and 4 down. It is geared very tall.
Heaps of torque and Horse power.
Any questions just contact me.
Cheers Ted.
