Due to a change of direction in my collection, I am selling this old girl for the second time.
There’s a lot of history for me with this bike.
I had an old Australian delivered Katana 750 (still has the silver Australian tag on the head stock) that had a blown engine I also had a 1998 Suzuki GSXR750T that I had bought new from Action Suzuki in Sydney (Still have the original books for the GSXR750 showing me as the original owner) sitting around doing nothing.
About 14 years ago (give or take) I had the bright idea about creating a Hybrid Katana/GSXR 750 or GixerKat as I call her as it had not been done before.
Anyway, after finishing the project it appeared in a few magazines and then just sat in my lounge room for a few years until I decided to sell.
Fast forward 10 years and I tracked down the guy I sold it to and bought it back as I really did not want to sell back in the day.
FYI - Bike has been previously registered in NSW in this configuration, so full or club rego should not be an issue.
When it arrived, it was pretty much the same as when it left all those years ago, a real “time warp”.
Well, me being me decided to strip it all down (not the engine as its fairly low kms and always looked after) and do a full rebuild and modernize, some of the works that where done;
• Bike was completely stripped (expect engine)
• All items sand blasted and re powder coated in Gloss Black - (has now had the swing arm powder coated as well)
• All new wheel bearings and steering head bearings
• Original Ohlin’s rear shock refitted.
• Marchesini wheels striped and re powder coated.
• An Aprilia Tuono R Ohlin’s complete front end (and triple clamps) was bought, rebuilt and modified to suit
• New carbon Aprilia front guard
• All new engine braided lines and fittings (went away from stainless braid and anodized fittings)
• New mirrors, grips, cables and other assorted NOS parts fitted
• NOS sprocket cover
• New front and rear LED indicators
• New acid free battery, Tyres and chain
• New Keihan FCR carbs
• New OEM inlet manifold rubbers
• New front and rear braided lines
• New ASV levers
• New overflow bottle
• New muffler
• Retrimmed seat in leather and Alcantara
• New rear disc
• New starter solenoid
• New brake pads front and rear
• Full respray of tank and side covers in Gloss Black
Have since redone the exhaust collector and fitted a new muffler.
Very rare set of Japanese set of rear sets have now been fitted along with a new set of premium indicators.
New billet throttle linkage and ram tube air filters also fitted along with a full dyno tune.
• Spent an absolute fortune with Unicorn in Japan with the following Carbon parts
Carbon Tank cover
Carbon front fairing
Carbon winglets
Carbon lower fairing covers
Carbon screen holder
Carbon rear duck tail
New Unicorn headlight
• Carbon engine cover protectors from Europe
• Removed sump and rocker cover from engine, fitted all new gaskets, seals and new strainer
• New oil, filter and coolant
• Previous engine works I had done back in the 90s, full port and polish, Kit pistons and gaskets, Yoshimura adjustable Cam Gears all done by Ten Tenths in Sydney
Bike is a real show piece and rides beautifully, would have only travelled 200kms since all this works has been done.
As you can see from the above list, spent well over $15k in parts alone.
Only selling as I am making way for another Bimota and don’t have the room to keep everything.
Have included some pictures of the original build and an old magazine article.
Will be sad to see her go for second time.
