1981 CB900F2-B
Complete rebuild completed June 2019 and only run for a few 1000km since.
This is a resto-mod bike that I think is sympathetic to the original, so probably not for someone looking for an untouched Bol D’or.
Engine is a CB900 bottom end with a CB1100 top end and Wiseco pistons. Tuned 4-1 exhaust. Yoshimura (Mikuni) flat slide carburettors with throttle position sensor, 3D mapped Ignitech electronic ignition and Dyna coils. Strengthened frame, Yamaha FZ1 front forks and wheel with custom triple tree. Rear is a GSXR 600 swing arm with R1 rear wheel. Brembo brakes. Speedhut GPS speedo and electronic tacho. Lithium battery and CTEK trickle charger. Paint done by Coloufuel in Sydney. It all sounds like a Frankenstein setup, but the components were carefully chosen to give the correct geometry for a more modern ride. The restomod was inspired by an article in bikeme called ‘Don’s Cup of Gold – the Ultimate Honda CB900F’. Much of the custom work with frame, triple tree brakes and throttle position sensor was done by the same Mario Ricciardello as in the article.
Unfortunately age and bad joints have caught up with me so I am no longer spending as much time riding as I used to.
