This is ex racer Max Thomson's bike who raced it with the well known production racer Alan Hales, just prior to me owning the bike Max had rebuilt the engine and refreshed what had been done 'back in the day'. It was probably classed as 'Improved Production' rather than Six-Hour Production specs.
Some of the work done:
New paint in original black, new decals to tank, sidecovers and engine
GSX1100 alloy swingarm
Laid forward Kayaba shocks to raise the ride height and quicken steering (OG mounts are still there)
GSX1100 discs and calipers
Stainless steel brake lines
Honda 750 master cylinder for improved brake feel and power
Modified Camshafts
29mm Mikuni smooth-bore carbs
K&N air filters
Yoshimura 4-into-1 exhaust and alloy muffler
Dyna S electronic ignition
Other work done over the last few years:
- remove engine, paint and reinstall
- remove carbs, disassemble, plate steel parts, hydroblast bodies, reassemble and reinstall
- remove swingarm, prime and paint silver
- remove, strip and re-kit brakes, paint and reinstall
- detail switch blocks
- re-paint white and gold stripes on tank and duck-tail
- fit s/h rectifier-regulator
- remove all hardware (nuts & bolts) plate and reinstall
Recently had a full service at a cost of $2.2k and is at the shop available for inspection whilst waiting for a final dyno and fine tune.
I also had a GS1000S and this bike is much sharper and faster (engine and handling)
There's a small dent in the front mudguard and the LHS sidecover has been misplaced (I put it somewhere safe and hope to find it)
Bike is located at a bike shop in Echuca where it can be inspected and test ridden. I'm on the road but can forward details.
