For sale is my Australian delivered Honda CB750 K1 finished in Valley Green Metallic. The bike is heavily restored in very nice condition, but not concourse. If you’re genuinely interested, please contact me and I can provide additional information and/or photos. Details of frame and engine numbers, etc will be provided to serious buyers.
If anyone has a 1972/73 Honda XL250 Motosport (see last two photos) in similar condition, I would be interested in considering such a bike as a part trade.
Since taking ownership of what was a substantially restored bike a couple of years ago, I’ve replaced many non-OEM and/or worn original parts with new genuine and very expensive OEM parts such as blinkers, headlight ring, instrument rings, exhaust hardware including heat shields, clamps, etc, points cover and the chrome (not the alloy) engine covers, rear brake lever, chain adjusters, mudguards front and back, handlebars, grips, levers, switch blocks (one is OEM and the other a new repro item), mirrors, numerous nuts and bolts (plus some that I haven’t fitted which I’ll include with the sale), full OEM wiring harness, foot rest rubbers and hardware, complete rear footrests, and other parts. The original aged but fully intact seat will be included, but a Yamiya reproduction seat (Yamiya use a K0 base but K1 cover and seat pad) is currently fitted which cost me approx. $750. I can refit the original seat, keep the Yamiya item and reduce the price to $18,750 as an alternative.
The original pitted HM300 exhaust pipes (not included with sale) have been replaced with Yamiya reproduction ‘no number’ HM300 pipes which cost me $3,200 plus postage. The instruments have been rebuilt by Manly Auto Instrument Repairs including new faces, casings and lenses supplied by CB750faces.com. Rims and spokes were new but not OEM (D.I.D.). Tyres are very low use Dunlop Roadmaster TT100 GP’s.
I don’t have the engine history so can’t say whether it’s ever been rebuilt. But it was a one-owner bike for the first 50 years of its life and had 7,200 miles on the original speedo prior to the current speedo being fitted. Runs nicely and starts easily when started regularly. As above, very low mileage on rebuilt speedo is obviously not original given this is a restored bike.
Items that still need some attention are:
1. Neutral light doesn’t work but a new OEM neutral light switch will be included that can be replaced by removal of one of the left exhaust pipes;
2. Kick starter doesn’t push down unless engine is running so may need a spring or something replacing (I’m no expert on this) but I always use the electric start anyway; and
3. There are a couple of fins on RH side of head that had the edges broken at some stage. I understand that the fins can be repaired by a skilled welder but I can’t guarantee this, and it really hasn’t bothered me.
When I bought the bike it was fitted with a twin disc “kit” which includes another calliper, disc, and hardware, which I removed but will include with the sale.
Inspection on the NSW Far North Coast (Kingscliff area) is welcome and encouraged. I can assist with arrangement of transport at buyer’s cost.
The bike is currently registered on the NSW Historic Vehicle Scheme so will be sold unregistered.
