A lack of bookings has forced the hand of the organiser, and the event planned for February 7-9 won't go ahead in the Queensland capital

The 2014 Brisbane Motorcycle Expo, planned for February 7-9, has been cancelled, with the organiser citing “increasing challenges in staging popular motorcycle expos in the region” – and also ‘blaming’ unprecedented support for the sold out 2013 Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show for helping to sign the death warrant.

"Sydney's success has just underlined that that is where the industry wants to be, plus Melbourne of course, so we've made an early call to fold Brisbane and instead focus on Australia's two main and strongest markets, said Exhibition & Trade Fairs (ETF) Managing Director, Gary Daly.

ETF was planning  a move back to the Queensland capital from the Gold Coast, but the disappointing response has now put an end to that. The 2013 Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show will be held from November 15-17.

The cancellation of the Brisbane expo comes on the back of news that Australia’s three-time world superbike champion Troy Bayliss is moving into the expo business, with the first of his events to be held at the Brisbane RNA Showgrounds from March 21-23, 2014.
